Ever wondered what it takes to compete in Formula 1? A cool video by Chain Bear F1 explains how racers obtain an F1 super licence.
The law requires you to obtain a drivers licence to be able to drive on public roads. Likewise professional racing drivers are required to have racing licences to compete in various disciplines of motorsport.
Meeting the requirements
The rules have changed since 2016 where drivers had to be a minimum of 18-years or older, have a valid driving license and also take a driving-theory test to qualify; F1 driver Max Verstappen wouldn’t have been able to meet the racing criteria two years ago.
According to Chain Bear F1: “In order to compete in Formula 1, drivers need a Super Licence. But how do you get a super licence, and how have the FIA changed the rules to make it even trickier than ever to get into F1?”
