Pep Guardiola believes his Manchester City players must keep on improving because critics expect them to beat team so easily.
Last season, City romped to the Premier League title, finishing 19 points above Manchester United with a record number of points.
However, this campaign has been somewhat more subdued with Wolves coming close to claiming a shock victory last weekend.
For Guardiola, who has now won 26 major pieces of silverware in a managerial career lasting less than a decade, the objective for his superstars is to keep improving on a weekly basis.
A 2-1 victory over a stubborn Newcastle United side on Saturday was the perfect start as they got back to winning ways to keep the pressure on league leaders Liverpool.
“Football every day is different,” Guardiola explained to talkSPORT’s Dom McGuinness.
“I’m quite satisfied with how we handled them [Newcastle United] you know? After what happened last season, we had the World Cup, go and win the Community Shield and have ten points,
“I think especially the way we played; every game we were better than the opponents.
“I always speak to the players and say ‘Don’t think about how many goals you have to score or having to be perfect’.

“We have to be better today, in these 90 minutes than the opponent and in all the games we were better.
“So, unfortunately, this last game we could not win for our fault for many reasons, but for the quality of the opponent.
“Today again, we concede one shot on target and one that’s happened, we have a lot of chances to win games.”
