A shocking sequence of events in Sofia
A boxer exchanged shots with his own coach following a defeat in Bulgaria on Saturday night.
Russia’s Gennady Martirosyan (26-4) was beaten by France’s Fouad El Massoudi (15-11) in Sofia and reacted by going rogue.
He at first refused to meet in the middle of the ring for the official decision and then appeared to challenge his opponent to an extra round of action.
As his trainer then attempted to intervene, they ended up exchanging punches, with the older man seeming to land cleaner than the actual fighter.
The bout took place on the undercard of Hughie Fury’s IBF final eliminator with Britain’s Hughie Fury.
