It is five years to the day since both players made their debuts in the Premier League. So who has been better?
talkSPORT presenter Adrian Durham claims Tottenham star Christian Eriksen is the player Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil ‘dreams of being’.
Both playmakers made their north London debuts five years ago to this day and their impact in those years was a topic of debate on Drivetime.
Ozil has seen his influence in big games brought under continued scrutiny during his time at the Emirates, while Eriksen continues to earn plaudits for his consistency at Spurs.
According to Durham, there is little doubt who he would rather have in his team.
He said: “I’ll give you very basic stats. Ozil: 145 appearances, 27 goals, 50 assists, 160 minutes per goal or assist.
“Eriksen: 175 appearances, so he’s played more games, he’s been ill less. 41 goals, 49 assists, 165 minutes per goal or assist.
“I’m not particularly interested in stats, for me it’s just the way they play, what they give to the team, the impact they have.
“It’s a no brainer. The impact Eriksen has had at Tottenham is far great than the impact Ozil has had at Arsenal.”
