The home of sport will be bringing you exclusive coverage of one of the prestigious golfing events
Later this month, talkSPORT 2 will be broadcasting ball-by-ball coverage of golf’s oldest major professional tournament, The Open.
Richard Kaufman will present live coverage from Carnoustie starting on Tuesday July 17, bringing all the latest news, live commentary and interviews from the top players at the 146th Open.
Former European and PGA Tour players Paul Eales, Gordon Brand Jnr, Carl Paulson and Raymond Burns will join Matt Adams, Ron Jones, Sue Thearle and Alison Walker in the commentary box and out on the Scottish course.
The live coverage will also sit alongside regular updates on the main talkSPORT station starting on July 15, with talkSPORT’s legendary golf correspondent Bob Bubka, the ‘poshest’ man on the station, Rupert Bell and talkSPORT regular Russell Hargreaves.
It is the first time since 2007 that the station has had the rights for the tournament and follows extensive rights wins for the biggest boxing bouts, England’s major upcoming overseas cricket tours until 2020 and 24/7 coverage of the FIFA World Cup.
talkSPORT 2 is already the exclusive home of EFL football as well as the Premier League, Champions League, international cricket, PDC world darts, Super League and Premiership Rugby – offering live coverage and breaking sports news 24 hours a day.
Liam Fisher, National Radio controller at talkSPORT, said: “talkSPORT has holed a ten footer to land rights to golf’s oldest major, with the world’s greatest golfers on display.
“After talkSPORT’s around the clock coverage of the FIFA World Cup in Russia, what better way to embrace the height of summer than to tune in for the season’s biggest major with Rory, Tiger and Bubba.”
You can listen to the coverage in partnership with Open Radio, via the app, online or via DAB digital radio.
