Tony Bellew has exclusively revealed to talkSPORT he has agreed to fight Oleksandr Usyk in the UK and has also claimed he has a better heavyweight record than Deontay Wilder.
The Bomber, 35, said his team have held productive talks with the undisputed cruiserweight world champion’s team, as Bellew targets another upset.
Ukrainian boxer Usyk is viewed as one of the top pound-for-pound fighters after a unanimous points decision victory against Murat Gassiev in the World Boxing Super Series final.
And just days after telling talkSPORT he wanted to ‘chin’ Usyk and then retire immediately, Bellew claimed talks towards making the bout happen are gathering momentum.
Bellew said on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show: “We have spoke and it’s agreed that it will happen in the UK and we’ve agreed on the timescale for it to happen.”
“It won’t be at Goodison Park. I don’t get nervous for fights but when I fought at Goodison [a third round knockout victory over Ilunga Makabu in May 2016] I was absolutely petrified.
“My ideal location is the 02 Arena in London.”
Bellew also claimed he has a superior heavyweight CV to that of WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder – but cited a poor promotional campaign for the American fighter as the reason behind this.
He added: “Technically, he’s a windmill artist. But ultimately, he has the equaliser – he has the power. That is why people tune in to watch him.
“He’s the most unknown heavyweight of all time.
“It’s unbelievable considering the run that he’s had – I think he’s close to nearly 40 or 50 fights. It’s absolutely ridiculous.
“I mean, I have a better CV than him and I’m not even a heavyweight.
“You know, I’ve got two wins over a former unified cruiserweight champion of the world and a former heavyweight champion of the world, in David Haye.
“My victories over Haye are better than anyone he’s beaten. That’s a fact, that’s not even up for debate.
“David Haye’s CV is better than anyone.

Has Joseph Parker ever been dropped and what is his boxing record?
“Let’s put this into context. You’ve got a WBC American heavyweight champion and no one knows who he is. The promotional and managerial job done with Deontay Wilder is really a crime.
“He should be a global name. He’s a man who knocks guys out and it’s just sad that people walking down the likes of New York City don’t know who he is.”
