Cape Town – Tunisia bowed out on a high in their final Group G clash by defeating Panama 2-1 at the Soccer World Cup in Russia on Thursday.
Leading up to the match, both teams were playing for pride – as England and Belgium already secured their spot in the last 16.
After a spell of Panama pressure, a deflected Jose Luis Rodriguez shot from outside the box, wrong footed Yassine Meriah to find the net and put the Central American country in front.
In the second-half, Tunisia got their equaliser through Fakhreddine Ben Youssef as he slotted home from close range for the African nation.
Tunisia then took the lead through Wahbi Khazri as he tapped in from close range leaving Panama goalkeeper Jaime Penedo stranded.
With the win, Tunisia ended third in the group.
In Thursday’s other encounter, Belgium won Group G after defeating England 1-0.
