Naismith incredibly hit the post from inside the six yards out, leading to comparisons with Chris Iwelumo’s infamous sitter against Norway in October 2008
It’s been a frustrating night for Scotland as they have struggled to break down Albania in their UEFA Nations League opener at Hampden Park.
It’s 0-0 at half-time in a game where Alex McLeish’s side have had plenty of chances but the ball just won’t go in.
And Steven Naismith was guilty of fluffing his lines from less than six yards away from goal on 24 minutes after heading the ball against the post when it seemed easier to score.
The miss has earned comparisons with Chris Iwelumo’s infamous miss against Norway in October 2008.
Below you can see the best tweets on Naismith’s miss from some pretty despondent Scotland fans.
Naismith did make up for it at the start of the second-half, of sorts.
The Hearts striker seemingly gave Scotland the lead but replays show the ball went in off Albanian defender Berat Djimsiti.
We’re sure Naismith will do everything to claim it though!
