Former England seamer Ryan Sidebottom sealed his place on Dancing on Ice by turning up to his audition in a tutu and an ice ice baby t-shirt.
Sidebottom joined talkSPORT to confirm he will appear on the ITV show’s 2019 series alongside celebrities including Gemma Collins and Brian McFadden.
He said: “I auditioned two months ago – turned up in a tutu, ice ice baby t-shirt, sweatbands, headbands – courtesy of my amazing girlfriend. She said you’ve got to make an impression.
“I’m immensely excited, I can’t wait. It’s obviously something totally different, massively out of my comfort zone.”
Sidebottom called time on a 20-year cricket career last September and admitted he can’t wait to challenge himself with something new.
“During my cricket career, I wasn’t allowed to bungee jump, ice skate or ski so it’s something I’m looking forward to. I can’t wait to get started!” he added.
His ex-England team-mate Graeme Swann is currently strutting his stuff on Strictly Come Dancing and Sidebottom will no doubt seek advice from Swann before his own stint on reality TV.
He continued: “I saw Swanny yesterday, hopefully he’ll get behind me because I’ve been watching him on Strictly and he’s been amazing.”
