After advancing to the semi-finals for the first time since 1990, Andersson has backed the Three Lions to end 52 years of pain in Moscow on July 15.

“Yes, I definitely believe England are good enough to win it,” he said.

“They are forceful, well-organised. I’d like to pay tribute to the team and coach.

“They are a good footballing side. I think they would be perfectly able to go all the way.”

Goals from Dele Alli and Harry Maguire sealed the victory for England in Samara on Saturday afternoon.

After the result, the odds on an English World Cup win shortened even further.

They now face Croatia in their semi-final clash on Wednesday at 7pm, where they will face the winners of the Belgium v France game the day before.
