Emre Can reveals transfer from Liverpool to Juventus not down to manager Jurgen Klopp

The midfielder swapped Merseyside for Turin and can’t wait to get started in Serie A

Emre Can has explained his reason for joining Juventus was down to the club’s ‘winning mentality’ and had nothing to do with Jurgen Klopp.

Before leaving Anfield there were rumours of a rift between player and manager, but the midfielder said it was not the case.

Can also explained the fact he was following in the footsteps of one of his biggest idols, Zinedine Zidane, was another motivation for the move.

“No, I had no problems with Klopp. I had a very good relationship with him,” he explained upon his unveiling as a Juventus player.

“At the end he wished me all the best here. I never had problems with Klopp.

“I know the mentality of this club well, there’s a winning mentality and it’s my mentality, I’m here to win titles,” he added.

Juventus have won Serie A for the last seven seasons and the last four Italian Cups, while they reached the Champions League final in 2015 and 2017.

“I decided to come to Juventus because I think the project here is very big. They have very big aims. I want to be part of the project here.

“I am really happy to be here. I know how Juventus play, I watched a lot of the games last season. One of my biggest idols was Zidane who played here, too.”

Can will apparently pocket a signing on fee of around £14million, which he will get in instalments over the next two years.
