The Sheffield man is set return to the ring before the end of 2018
Eddie Hearn has revealed that Kell Brook will fight on December 8 in Sheffield, against an opponent to be announced later this week.
The former welterweight world champion staged a comeback bout at super-welterweight (154lbs) in March, but then pulled out of a July appearance due to an injury.
It is understood he will begin a gradual step back down in weight on December 8 by taking a catchweight bout of around 150lbs, before then dropping back down to welterweight (147lbs) to face Amir Khan next year.
When asked for an update on Khan vs Brook, promoter Hearn told ThaBoxingVoice: “It looks like Brook’s going to go on December 8 and then hopefully we’ll get that fight made for February/March.
“Brook will headline, it’s in Sheffield. We’ll announce his opponent later this week.”
Negotiations for Amir Khan vs Kell Brook are still ongoing, with a rehydration clause having become a major sticking point.
