The former Real Madrid forward was applauded by fans in Turin after his breathtaking strike in the Champions League quarter-finals
Cristiano Ronaldo has won UEFA’s goal of the season for his stunning bicycle kick against Juventus.
The former Real Madrid man, who now plays for the Italian club, beat competition from 11 nominees including Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen.
Ronaldo tweeted: “Thanks to everyone who voted for me. Will never forget that moment, specially the reaction of the fans in the stadium.”
The five-time Ballon D’Or winner received a standing ovation from opposing fans for the strike, an act which Ronaldo admits influenced his summer move to Turin.
With Madrid already ahead in the game thanks to the Portuguese superstar, he acrobatically took flight and fired a mesmerising shot back over his head and into the bottom corner of Gianluigi Buffon’s goal.
