The 30-year-old believes his fellow Brit will have an easy night’s work
Dillian Whyte has said he expects Anthony Joshua to “destroy” Alexander Povetkin when they meet on September 22, live on talkSPORT.
The Brixton man, who himself suffered a KO defeat to Joshua in 2015, believes his former foe will finish the Russian mandatory challenger within six rounds.
“I believe he destroys Povetkin to be honest,” Whyte told Jim White on talkSPORT.
“Povetkin has a puncher’s chance, but apart from that not much to be honest.
“I think right now Anthony Joshua’s far surpassed where Povetkin’s ever been.”
Whyte himself stated he is hoping to secure rematches with both Joshua and Dereck Chisora in the coming months.
He went on to confirm that he doesn’t think an aging Povetkin can affect those future plans.
“At the age he is now, he’s 39, and the fights he’s had. It’s a young man’s game boxing and I think Anthony Joshua is mentally in a different place and he’s still evolving.
“I think Povetkin’s plateaued out now. I just think Joshua will be too hungry and too ferocious for him.
“I’m gonna have a bet in the first six rounds, I think Povetkin will walk onto punches.”
