The undefeated Brit has come a long way from his days as a scrawny amateur at the Finchley Amateur Boxing Club
Anthony Joshua has shared a series of photos from the beginning of his boxing career which reveal the incredible transformation he has undergone since turning professional.
The undefeated heavyweight world champion – a global superstar – was a latecomer to the sport having only started boxing in 2007.
He was a promising footballer and athlete but. at 18 years old, donned a pair of gloves at Finchley ABC and has never looked back.
Two years after starting out as an amateur, he won the Haringey Boxing Cup in 2009.
More medals and trophies soon followed and now he’s the king of the heavyweight division, having won all 22 of his pro fights.
Currently on holiday in Jamaica, Joshua was clearly feeling pensive and decided to show off a host of pictures from his early days in the sport, which highlights the incredible transformation his body has undergone.
Joshua is currently just one belt away from becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
In order to reach that goal, he will have to claim Deontay Willder’s WBC title.
Although a bout between the two was mooted for last summer, Wilder has since claimed Joshua is not even in his top three heavyweights in the world right now.
With a date at Wembley booked in for Joshua at Wembley in April – should Wilder overcome Tyson Fury in December – the Bronze Bomber may want to reconsider his statement in advance.
